Lexipair privacy policy
Effective date: 30 October 2026
This policy covers Lexipair, the Android app (package
com.alexandritesoftware.lexipair) and the website version of the same app. “We”
means the developer of Lexipair. Questions:
contact@lexipair.com.
Summary
- Your wordsets, settings, scores and Premium status are stored on your device only. We have no server and no accounts, so nothing of this reaches us.
- The website uses Google Analytics to count visits (with consent where the law requires it); the Android app has no analytics.
- The Android app shows ads from Google AdMob. Google’s ad software collects device and usage data to serve and measure ads; where the law requires it, the app asks for your consent first.
- In the Android app, Premium is a Google Play subscription or one-time purchase. Google processes the payment; we never see your payment details.
- The website shows one banner ad from Google AdSense, which uses cookies or similar technologies; where the law requires it, Google asks for your consent first. The website takes no payments.
- The recorded voices are fetched from Microsoft Azure storage, which receives the IP address of each request.
- On the website, Premium comes with a code we send by email. If you ask for one, we use your email address only to reply with the code.
What the app stores on your device
- The wordsets you import or edit, with their pictures and recordings.
- Your settings, the results of your sessions and your records.
- Whether Premium is active, and until when (from a Google Play purchase or a promo code); on the website, a fingerprint (SHA-256 hash) of your Premium code instead of the code itself.
- A short diagnostic log kept in memory while the app runs, shown on the About screen; it is not saved or sent anywhere.
This data stays on the device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else. It is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its storage (on the website: when you clear the site’s data in your browser).
Advertising (Android app)
The Android app shows one banner ad from Google AdMob, a Google advertising service. Premium removes it. To serve and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK in the app may collect and share with Google:
- the advertising ID and other device identifiers;
- approximate location, derived from your IP address;
- information about your interactions with ads, and app diagnostics and performance data.
The data is sent encrypted. Google uses it under its own privacy policy: Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and in some US states), the app shows Google’s consent form before any ad is requested. You can change your choice at any time in Settings › Ad privacy options. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in the Android settings (Settings › Privacy › Ads, or Google › Ads, depending on the device).
The ads are requested with the content rating “General audiences”.
Purchases (Android app)
Premium is sold through Google Play as a subscription (monthly or yearly) or as a one-time purchase. Google Play processes the payment and keeps your purchase history under the Google Payments privacy notice. The app asks Google Play only whether Premium was bought and stores whether it is active. No payment details reach the app or us.
Promo codes are checked on the device. Entering a code sends nothing anywhere.
Speech
Chinese words are spoken by recorded voices (Serena and Dylan) where a recording exists. The
recordings are files fetched from Microsoft Azure storage
(tingducontent.blob.core.windows.net), in the app and on the website. Like any
web server, Microsoft receives the technical data of each request, such as your IP address
and which recording was asked for, under the
Microsoft Privacy Statement.
You can turn the recorded voices off in Settings › Voice › System.
Other words, and every word when you are offline, are spoken by the text-to-speech engine of your device or browser. The engine belongs to the device or browser maker. Some browsers use online voices; in that case the browser sends the text being spoken to its maker, under the maker’s privacy policy. Lexipair itself sends no text anywhere.
Files you import and export
Wordset files you import are read on the device. Files you export are created on the device and go only where you send or save them.
The website
The website version runs entirely in your browser and stores its data in the browser’s own
storage (IndexedDB) on your device. It takes no payments: its Premium is a code (a key) that
you enter on the Premium page (below). It uses Google Analytics (below) to count visits. It
is hosted at https://lexipair.com on Microsoft Azure Static Web Apps: like any
web server, Microsoft receives the technical data of each request, such as your IP address,
under the
Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Premium on the website
To get a Premium code for the website you email us (sales@lexipair.com). We use your email address and message only to reply with your code and to answer you; we do not add you to any list or send you marketing. We keep the email in our mailbox while the code is valid, and delete it on request. The code is checked in your browser against a list of code fingerprints published with the website, which holds no names or email addresses; the browser stores the fingerprint of your code. Entering a code sends nothing anywhere.
Advertising (website)
The website at https://lexipair.com shows one banner ad from Google AdSense at
the bottom of the page. To serve and measure ads, Google and its partners may set and read
cookies or similar technologies in your browser and receive your IP address, information
about your browser and device, the page you visit, and your interactions with ads. Google
uses this data under its own policies:
Google Privacy Policy and
How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), Google’s consent message asks for your choice before personalised ads are shown. You can opt out of personalised ads at Google’s My Ad Center or www.aboutads.info.
Analytics (website)
The website uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they use. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address, browser and device information, the pages you visit and how you use them; it does not receive your wordsets or records, which never leave your device. Google processes the data under the Google Privacy Policy. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics cookies are used only after you agree in Google’s consent message; you can change your choice in Settings › Privacy and cookie settings. You can also opt out with Google’s opt-out add-on. The Android app has no analytics.
Children
Lexipair is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. The app itself collects no personal data; the ad data described above is collected by Google.
Your rights
We hold no personal data about you, except the email you send us to get a website Premium code: ask us at the address below to see or delete it. Otherwise there is nothing for us to give you, correct or delete. To delete the data on your device, uninstall the app or clear its storage. For the data Google collects for ads and purchases, use the controls in your Google account and the links above, or contact Google.
Changes
We will publish any change to this policy on this page and update the effective date above.
